Managing a project in an engineering service company can be an uphill task as there are few skilled resources and huge volumes of work. In order to deliver any project on time, a project manager has to constantly be on the move, convening team meetings and getting the status quo on every task of the project. Work load of a project manger in an engineering services company is comparable to that of a manger in an IT company, however the latter has an edge due to the availability of a number of tools to facilitate the tedious task.

I have seen that one of the major reasons behind delayed project delivery is ignorance and reluctance on the part of the management to adopt tools which can facilitate a manager and the team in tracking a project’s status without having to constantly nudge the team members to complete the project. Engineering service companies are either unaware of the tools available in the market or offer resistance to any sort of change.
