The excurtion to Supa where Suzlon has set up its wind farm was an amazing experience. This is ( I think ) the first time that I drove towards Nagar and the road is 4 lane for most part and there is industrial development all along. The TiE team that set this up is an enthusiastic lot.These guys drove from Mumbai for this.'

Wind energy has always been an amusing topic for me and when we were coming close to Supa, we could see windmill towers gracing the skyline stanidng the hills. The arrangemens were made for us to gain aaccess and show the place around.

The turbine weighing some 6 tons has three blades on 30 mtr length. Each blade waighs 3 tons. All this mounted on a tower or a tubular structure. The wind turns these bladesand the turbine generates electicity. The units we saw had 1 MW/ hr capacity. But as the wind speed varies, the actual generation varies and is far below this. Ty ... We received a delegation from China today. It was a typical investment promotion delegation and their focus was 'selling' their region for comapanies to set up their base in that region. Here are some bytes -

The facilities and the cost structures offerred are very attractive. The office like Kshitij and its campus will cost no more than $2 million to build and own. This is fraction of what it is in Pune now. ALso, this city of Jiaxiang is like Pune, a city of 5 million people 90 KM from Shanghai. Geopolitically very similar to Mumbai-Pune comparison. And we were offerred FREE , yes free office in the software tech park there. And if you hire local graduates, you get 20K RMB or $4K USD as grant. Unbeleiavle but true.

In the last post I talked about the partnering with strategic HR consultants to provide a complete solution to customers by addiing the domain or content that is relevant and specific to the organization.

I met with an industry colleague whom I was not in contact for many years and had lost touch on where he is. He runs a very interesting business model where he provides incubation services to IT and ITES companies form abroad who want to set up their captive centers in India. Over time his services have extended to providing all sorts of business services to these 'clients' who have set up their units in India. These include accounting, recruitment, legal compliance and stuff. He has gone on to create payroll processing service that he now offers to companies at large. I was discussing around the partnering with other organizations to extend the reach of Compulink's products and services.

Given that the customer needs are diverse and rapidly evolving; unless you are one large organization that can be evrrything to everyone,connecting with complementary organizations is very much a necessity.

The customer is looking for a 'complete solution' and not a piecemeal one. When organization delivers just its piece, the customer is forced to look for other pieces elsewhere to complete the puzzle. This is also a cross-selling opportunity that companies selling their own pieces usually leave on the table.
